A great excitement! I just can't wait!!

Diamondz 20

Pedaler

Swerve left, swerve right,
Pedal, pedal, outta sight!
Teeth clenched together,
Hands hold tight,
I zoom and race with all my might.
Very vertigo-inducing,
As I pull hard on the brake.
Finally Daddy let go of me,
What a piece of cake!
I feel like flying through the air,
As I loop here and there!
How elated I am,
As the wind blows through my hair!
Me and my Diamondz 20,
Surely are a great pair!

Running Coach

After working as her dad's running "coach" diligently for one week, Jenny finally became an independent pedaler and her dad finally changed into an active runner (at least so far).

Congrats! Yay! Hooray!!

40 Years Ago Today

I am Neil Armstrong,
Boarding a rocket today.
3..2..1! BLASTOFF!!
We're on our way!!
Lesser, lesser gravity
As I jump & bound!
It's hard to hold this pen,
When get off the ground.
It's a long time then
We step out in wonder.
Looking at craters,
Leaping everywhere,
Oh, how much to ponder!
My heart beats fast
As I venture around!
With great joy I was trying to shout,
There was no sound!
It was such an exciting moment,
As we stuck in our Stars and Stripes flag!!
We made footprints in the lunar soil,
Those are still there!
Believe me it's no gag.
I took a little Moon rock,
And I sniffed it.
Smells wet ashes in a fireplace
Or may be metallic.
It was radical!
I wish we all could go there.
What a sight!
Bevy of mysteries,
Truely outta-this-world!!!

Could be Much Better

The Tiger Rising I thought I was almost a fan of Kate DiCamillo. "Stories are light", she once said. But not this one. Jenny and I were so disappointed after we finished this book, it's totally not what we expected; we don't see any light at all.

It looks the author was trying to tell us some things, such as memories, true emotions and animals can't be locked up forever. The message is profound, but the way it delivered was lack of light. The worst part which I cannot bear is the ending -- the animal is dead. And all characters don't seem to have a happier life. Nothing interesting. Nothing exciting. Nothing hopeful. I find myself ended up with a heavy heart :-(

Also, there're other issues in the book, such as
. The way to deal with bullies
. Fighting at school
. Communication between parents and kids

Nah, I don't recommend this book.

A Letter from Tooth Fairy

Dear Miss Tooth Fairy,

Thank you so much for all the gifts that you gave me.
What do you do with all those teeth?
I just want to see. Where do you dwell?
Is it a faraway place?
I never before saw you,
But you must have a pretty face.
You know, I lost another tooth. I put it under my pillow today.
I hope you do write back to me soon,
Thank you, thank you,
To you I say!

Have a Toothriffic night,
Jenny

Dear Miss Jenny,         July 14, 2009 11:41pm

Thanks for leaving me the tooth and letter,
That's the 10th tooth from you, my dear.
I'm so happy you're a big contributor,
Let's celebrate it, let's cheer!
Also glad you have questions for me,
I'll try my best to help before the moon disappears.
The distance from me to you is far and near,
Although tooth collecting is my career.
What am I going to do with all those teeth?
That's a good question I'd like to hear.
I'm thinking to use them to build a castle,
Or put them in a box to keep as a souvenir.
I'm not sure if I have a pretty face,
But I’m certain if you are the beholder.
Good night! My sweetie,
Let me whisper in your ear.
Hope you enjoy your holey smile,
I'll see you later in a while!

With soooooooooo much love,
Tooth Fairy ;-)

My Favorite Dinner

Louisiana buffalo wings!
Oh, the delight my tongue craves to savor!
Mama I need to hug you tight!
You know that's my favorite dinner!
Juicy, crunchy, yum, yum, yum!
What a total scrumptious flavor!
The hot color! The spicy smells!
Oh, how perfect for a carnivore!
More! More! More! More!
Don't forget I am a tiger!
What! How come I can only have three?
No! Mama I can hardly agree.
I know you're saving me good,
But how about my jubilant mood?
Mouthful of delight quickly fled,
OK, I'll eat more apricots instead.

Yum, yum!

Pillows, blankets, party time!
Eight times the big clock does chime.
We are up to dance and play,
Giggling, chasing.. what a big day!
We twirl and prance to joyful songs,
Then start to sing loudly along,
"The pillows go marching hurrah, hurrah,
And all keep marching, marching on today."
We hug and whisper as it gets dark,
I can hear the neighbor's dog bark.
Still having fun with a pillow fight,
Until my mom exclaims
Good night.

July 4th

Red, Rhythm & Boom 2009

Independence Day, also known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday that commemorates America's adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. On this day, people sing patriotic songs such as The Star Spangled Banner, My Country ‘tis of Thee, and God Bless America. It is also celebrated with fireworks, barbecues, baseball games, parades, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, and more events celebrating the birth of our beloved country, the United States of America!

Michael Jackson (1958 - 2009)

For Michael Jackson
Wasn't really a fan of him until I listened to his "The Earth Song" which is extremely beautiful.

I grieve for him.

Goodbye Florida

Goodbye Florida

Goodbye Florida,
I'll miss you so.
You are so "hot",
What I mean you know.
I enjoy all
The parks at Disney,
Riding rides and
Seeing the future me!
The beach was awesome,
The swerving waves and tides!
I laughed in the sand,
And seashells I found.
The vast ocean
Was so wide,
I wonder what is
On the other side.
You're so fun and special,
Though quite a long way.
I would love to see you again,
Some other day!

Goodbye Florida

Freeze the Moment

Let's freeze the moment,
So you'd always be by my side.
Together we drive to dreamland,
Or simply wherever we like...

A Souvenir, A Memory

The term Souvenir is derived from a French word meaning 'memory'. It is used to describe any object that is treasured for the memories attached with it.

Am I in Beijing?

Fun Facts:
• The Temple of Heaven is located in Beijing China. It was where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would pray and give sacrifices to heaven.
• The Temple of Heaven was constructed between 1406 and 1420 during the reign of Ming Emperor YongLe (1403-1424), who also oversaw the creation of the Forbidden City during the same period.
• The Temple of Heaven has three main structures.
o The Altar of Heaven is an empty three-tiered structure made of white marble. It was used for worshipping.
o The Echo Wall surrounds the Imperial Vault of Heaven, which is the prominent building. It is a round building with a roof like the one the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest has, which is another structure.
o The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest is a building made of wood. The hall itself is 38 meters tall. Not a single nail was used in its construction!

What a great wonder
to meet the wild blue yonder,
I feel like I really soar!!

Soar!!

A Worry Stone

A Worry Stone

I'd rub you if I see a spider,
I'd rub you if there's a terrible storm.
Slithering, sliding,
Through my fingers,
Feeling both cool and warm.
I'd rub you if I meet a snake,
I'd rub you if I'm all alone.
But if I don't have
Many worries,
Why do I possess a worry stone?

Ready, Set, Go!!!

Ready, Set, Go!!!

Mama, will you always be here?

A Beautiful Creature

How huge is the world?
How high is the sky?
How wide is the plain?
How big will I be?
How many eyes are there?
How many flashes do they need?
Will you always be here
When they are staring at me?

A Beautiful Creature

A Beautiful Creature

A Beautiful Creature

Why are you looking away?
Why do you feel so shy?
I just love to see,
Your beautiful bright eyes.
Would you be my friend?
Would you come for a ride?
Let's explore the world together,
We'll laugh & play side by side...

From This Moment On

I have a feeling that something would happen!
"I have a feeling that something would happen!"

A nuzzle.
Minnie's Song (from the one by Shania Twain)

From this moment, life has begun
From this moment, you are the one
Right beside you, is where I belong
From this moment on
I give my nose to you with all my heart,
I can't wait to play with you,
I can't wait to start.
You and I will never be apart,
My dreams came true,
Because of you.
Life has begun!!
I L-O-V-E this song!!!

75

The slithering 75 is mile after mile,
How come it looks like we're still in Ohio?
The big mouse seems far far away,
My tummy starts a loud rumble.
Wake up, Penny!! Look outside the window!
Do you see the sign of my favorite Bell?

On Our Way

On Our Way

All among the
Grassy field,
The cars do not
Stop or yield.
All of 'em
Racing along their way.
We see millions
Everyday!
Fast, faster!
Busy, busier,
On our way,
To the bay!

Happy Daddy's Day!

I know it's late, but I still want to post my writing for my daddy. It's good to be home again! I think the best part is, we don't have to "enjoy" his S-N-O-R-E anymore (at least for a long while)!!!

Pictures from our trip are coming... see you very soon!

We're back!!

I really miss you!!
Hope you're enjoying the beautiful sunshine as well.

I just wanna shout!!

Let's sing a song aloud,
We're marching to the south!
To hug the sea, palm trees,
and a big mouse!
We'll have fun that's no doubt,
As the adventure starts,
I just wanna shout!!

  • The Voice of a Child

    Our Friends

After reading a story from the recent Pulse-Journal, I guess Jenny tasted something else other than sweet in Littmus Lozenge. She was confused and upset (so was I!!!) by what was happening. After a short discussion with me she decided to do something. Here's the letter she wrote to the reporter of that story. I'm amazed (again!) to hear the voice of a child.

    Dear Mr. McClelland,

I have read the news article Investigation clears deputy in goose death on the Pulse-Journal dated June 4, 2009. After reading it, I felt so sad and depressed and I wanted to somehow let the deputy know that what he did was very wrong to nature.

I am wondering why Deputy Mark Pelfry would kill the precious, injured goose instead of bringing it to the hospital to save it. In my backyard, I have a lake and in the cooler seasons, many ducks and Canada geese like to swim and be in here. Also, I have written a book all about the special geese, a gift to our planet, and this article is quite disturbing because of my love for geese. I feel very depressed about how people would harm these dear animals.

I suspect that Pelfry was thinking that the bird would suffer more living than dead. But I still do not like this situation, how some people can be so cruel to animals, my favorite to be with! Just like how Lisa Kuhn thought, it is horrifying!

By the way, I do not think that this is euthanasia. At first, I did not know what euthanasia was. I checked the dictionary: euthanasia n. the act of killing someone painlessly, esp. to relieve suffering from an incurable illness. I do recall that deputy beat the goose with a night stick for 5 to 10 minutes. I am thinking how it would hurt if someone did that to HIM. Thus, this is NOT euthanasia.

Even though geese are not listed as endangered species, I still do not think we should act like this to them. I do not think of it as reasonable.

So, my opinion is that what Pelfry did was wrong. I protest that we should not hurt any animals! Animals are our friends, how can we treat our friend like that?

    STOP HURTING THE ANIMALS!

    Jenny (Age 8)

    Littmus Lozenge

India Opal: It tastes like root beer and strawberry and something else that makes me feel kind of sad.
Amanda: It makes me miss Carson.
Gloria Dump: It tastes sweet. But it also tastes like people leaving.
The preacher: It almost tastes a little melancholy...
Sweetie Pie: It tastes like not having a dog...

As you know that's from Kate DiCamillo's Because of Winn-Dixie we're reading these days.

Suppose Opal has just given you a Littmus Lozenge and you eat it. What does it taste like to you?

    Because of Winn-Dixie

    The Last Day of School

    The Last Day of School

    School is out today.
    I know it's a bummer!
    But it's also good,
    We're in the summer!
    I'll miss Mrs. Bishop
    And my friends,
I'll play with my beach ball,
    When I miss them all.
    I have mixed feelings,
    That is clear.
    But I am pretty sure,
I'll see 'em next school year!

    Playdate Cats

    Playdate Cats

A fat cat went outside and sat
Near a mat with a fat rat.
The cat held a ball and bat
    And wore a baseball hat.
    She had rainbow-colored fur
    And her name was Pat.
    Her pal, another cat
    Was not as fat.
The raindrops around her were colorful,
    Look at that!
    This beautiful cat,
    Her name was Kat!
    They had a playdate today,
And a lot they laughed at.
What a great day they had!!
