Sing and Smile!
We watched this movie some time ago, BT couldn't have enough of it, she was CRAZY about it! I found myself captured by those little creatures as well. Now she's singing along with the soundtracks in my car, how cute!
L-O-V-E every song of the adorable high-pitched chipmunk vocals, especially "The
Chipmunk Song", "Bad Day", "Funkytown" and "Follow Me Now".
Put down the books, S-I-N-G and S-M-I-L-E!

The Most Important Job
Full Time + Overtime. Permanent(!).
Many smiles, hugs and smooches(guaranteed!)
Unpredictable but they would take your breath away!
It’s a job full of joy, excitement, memories, wonders, amazement, and sometimes frustrations but always full of challenges.
• Must have a pair of strong arms to hug me tight and hold me up;
• Must have a pair of strong legs to run with me on sunny days and rainy days;
• Must have a strong voice to praise me often and exclaim WOW! when I show you my great works;
• Must have a light-colored verbal palette to paint our sky(remember, I'll use what you have there);
• Must have a great deal of laughter to dance with those of mine;
• Must have an unwavering appetite to drink deeply from good books to learn unceasingly how to grow a super active wild tiger
like me ;-)
Too many to list, but most importantly needless to say must have a BIG, LOVING HEART to do everything(especially when I mess things up)!

Like a fish,
As through the water I glide!
With a kick and a flick
And the splashes go plick,
I shoot through the blue with pride!
Flip and turn
In the water I churn
Like a dolphin in the sea.
Smoothly I crawl,
Filled with glee,
Look! Daddy is far behind me!

The Wonders of Nature
Among the bushes, flowers and trees,
Nature gives a gentle breeze.
Up in the sky, the sun shines bright,
Nature gives rays of light.
The rushing rivers and sea so blue,
Nature gives lakes and ponds too.
And twinkling stars that blend with the moon,
Nature gives wishes that she will grant soon.
Singing birds, fluttering butterflies,
Nature gives those beautiful sights.
Blue, blue sky and fresh, fresh air,
Nature gives wonders everywhere.
All creatures and plants and land large or small,
Mother Nature gives us them all.
Thank you, Mama Tiger for this lovely photo above! It goes so well with my writing!

"Mama, what's a commitment?" Jenny asked when we were reading an article online Saturday.
"It's something you promise to do. It's a responsibility." I said. "You were making a commitment when you adopted Penny that you would take good care of her."
"Is having me a commitment?" she asked again.
I gasped, looking into her eyes. She just never ceases to amaze me. "Surely is," I replied in an exaggerated deep voice, "a HUMONGOUS one."
"Are you happy that you made this commitment?" Jenny continued. "Are you happy, Mama?"
I was frozen in my seat. What a question! Do I really need to answer it, honey? You are making my life tremendously more worth living!
Holding her tightly in my arms, I gave full-blown smooches on her cheeks, “That was my answer!”

A Journey Not For Children
Receiving this book on her 8th birthday from a friend, my daughter was so excited when she started to read it with me. At first, it was delightful to read aloud in the sunlight but soon I felt the light dimmed and gradually I was surrounded by darkness. At some points I had to hide my feelings from my daughter when I found myself cringed in sorrow and needed to distract her purposely with a fun break. Sometimes how complicated life is!
The story is beautifully written, intense, touching but full of sadness. From the eyes of a china rabbit named Edward the world is cold and cruel. The kind people are vulnerable, weak and helpless; and the bad guys are brutal, heartless and strong. My heart kept aching from the endless misery suffered by Edward. Does a child really need to go through all of these with Edward to learn to love?
The dangerous part is in the doll shop when an antique doll told Edward, “If you have no intention of loving or being loved, then the whole journey is pointless. You might as well leap from this shelf right now and let yourself shatter into a million pieces. Get it over with. Get it all over with now.” And she intended to push Edward down from the shelf!
How horrifying!!! Isn't a life worth living without love? It all depends on how we define love. This discussion is far beyond the scope of children's book.

When I got back home, someone gave me a surprising attack!!! Awww... look at her sharp teeth and sharp claws! Look at her tummy! I feel I'm always the happiest one in the world!

This summer, Jenny and I enjoyed a great time together laughing with a pile of her special little friends - Big Anthony, Bambolona, Strega Nona, Tom and Tony from Italy introduced by their beloved father, Tomie dePaola. Their bright-colored adorable faces and hilarious episodes were truly our Italian delight. Thank you Tomie!
When I was switching myself from meeting them to cooking, I guess my mind was still in Italy… Here’s what we had for dinner yesterday. I hope tofu likes its new foreign dressing. My Baby Tiger loves it! Bravo!

The most wondrous ship ever,
You cannot sail alone.
Sometimes it is secret,
Sometimes it is known.
The wondrous ship sails on
Smooth and rough seas.
Hand in hand we laugh and cry,
As the days go by.
The materials are patience,
Love, kindness and faith.
It's the most wondrous ship...
Guess what it is?
You would know the answer by thinking of your pal...
It is .

"What is Real? Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"
"Real isn't how you are made. It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
"Does it hurt?"
"Sometimes. When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up or bit by bit?"
"It doesn't happen all at once, you become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept.
Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things doesn't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."
A timeless classic tale of friendship and love, I cherish this book deeply.
